Mercedes-Benz has celebrated this milestone by producing a cumulative 25,000 electric vans since 2010. Mercedes-Benz’s current lineup of electric vans includes three models consisting of the Mercedes-Benz eVito (mid-size van and passenger Tourer version) marketed in 2017, the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter (large van) since 2019 and the Mercedes-Benz EQV 300. (passenger van) which was released in 2020.
“We have a clear goal, we want to be a leading manufacturer of electric vans in the long term,” said Mathias Geisen, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans in a statement, Tuesday (12/4/2022).
“And for this we have a very good starting point: By the end of 2021, we are once again the leader of the medium and large electric van market in Europe.”
Furthermore, Mathias revealed that Mercedes-Benz Vans has also planned to take the next step by introducing small electric vans such as the Mercedes-Benz eCitan and EQT in 2022.

This will enable the electrification of the entire Mercedes-Benz range of commercial vehicles, as all models will have a battery-electric version. According to the German manufacturer, by the end of the decade, the company will be ready to become a fully electric vehicle manufacturer “wherever market conditions permit.”
Not only that, Mercedes-Benz also plans to introduce the next-generation eSprinter model next year and start production in Charleston, South Carolina, USA in the second half of 2023 and will also be produced in Düsseldorf and Ludwigsfelde, Germany.
Mercedes-Benz has announced that it has invested around 350 million euros in the next-generation eSprinter. Of that around 150 million euros will be invested for production adjustments in the three factories.

From the middle of this decade, all newly developed vans will be exclusively electric cars, based on the fundamentally new, modular and all-electric van architecture based on VAN.EA.
