Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng said it has partnered with Singapore-based charge point operator Charge+ to expand fast-charging access in Southeast Asia, with plans to roll out at least 20 new direct current (DC) fast charging sites across the region.
The companies said the network will include hubs in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia, with charging power ratings of up to 480kW DC. Four sites are already operational in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Bangkok. Charge+ highlighted its facility at KL Eco City in Kuala Lumpur, which includes six 350kW DC charging ports, calling it the city’s fastest EV charging station. The hubs are also part of Charge+’s “EV charging highway,” a cross-border charging corridor covering 5,000 km across five Southeast Asian countries.
The partnership will also offer perks for Xpeng drivers. Customers will be able to access Charge+ hubs through the Xpeng mobile app and, later this year, through their vehicle dashboards. They will also receive three years of discounted charging on Charge+’s public network, with additional savings at co-branded fast-charging hubs.
“We are excited to collaborate with Charge+, a leader in EV charging solutions in Southeast Asia,” said Gao Xiang, General Manager of Xpeng Charging. “Supercharging has been a core focus of Xpeng with all EV models using technologies such as 800V platforms and 5C batteries to achieve ultra-fast charging. As Xpeng continues to bring its innovative EVs to this region, we are confident we will be able to unlock new opportunities together with Charge+.”
