Tesla may expand its Cyber lineup with a possible SUV or a smaller version of its Cybertruck, according to chief designer Franz von Holzhausen, though the company has not confirmed production plans.
Speaking on Bloomberg’s Hot Pursuit podcast, von Holzhausen said Tesla has weighed the idea but declined to give specifics. “Wait and see is probably the best way to answer,” he said when asked about future Cyber-branded vehicles.
Speculation has grown following two recent developments. Earlier this month, Tesla released a video titled Sustainable Abundance that included scale models resembling new Cyber-style designs. The company has also discontinued the most affordable Cybertruck model in North America, which some analysts say could open space for a new entry-level product.
The discontinued version, a Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive Cybertruck, was introduced in April with a base price of $69,990, or $62,490 after accounting for U.S. federal tax credits. It offered an estimated 350 miles of range, exceeding that of the dual-motor all-wheel drive version at 325 miles and the tri-motor Cyberbeast at 320 miles.
