Fleet management firm SG Fleet has teamed up with UK charging provider Ohme to include smart home chargers in its electric vehicle (EV) salary sacrifice packages, aiming to cut costs for drivers and encourage wider EV adoption.
Under the partnership, the cost of an Ohme charger is bundled into monthly rental fees, removing upfront expenses for employees switching to EVs. SG Fleet said its UK salary sacrifice fleet has recorded a 400% increase in EVs since 2021, underscoring growing demand.
Ohme’s chargers allow drivers to tap into off-peak electricity tariffs, potentially reducing annual charging costs to as little as £119, compared with more than £400 on standard tariffs and £1,000 or more for petrol cars.
“Our role is to keep businesses and their people moving,” said Peter Davenport, SG Fleet’s UK managing director. “This partnership with Ohme helps us deliver a seamless transition to electric mobility.”
Ohme, which supplies chargers to Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Suzuki and Volkswagen in the UK and Ireland, has been recognised for its smart charging technology and sustainability ambitions. The company recently won Business Motoring awards for best EV and van charging point provider.
SG Fleet, which manages over 300,000 vehicles in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, said the initiative reflects its strategy to support businesses in moving towards sustainable fleets.
