Finnish equipment manufacturer Avant Techno Oy on Monday launched its largest electric wheel loader to date, the e747, as part of a push to expand its footprint in the heavy equipment sector with battery-powered machinery.
Founded in 1991 and best known for its diesel-powered compact loaders, Avant first introduced electric models in 2016 with the e5 and e6. The new e727 and flagship e747 represent what the company described as its most ambitious entry into the market, with the e747 equipped with a 47 kWh in-house developed battery offering up to nine hours of operation.
The battery, developed under the Avant Power brand, uses an “OptiTemp” immersion cooling system that submerges cells in a dielectric fluid to stabilize temperatures, improve efficiency, and enable charging from 10% to 80% in under two hours with a 22 kW DC charger.
“The market has still been missing heavy-duty electric loaders with greater lifting power, longer range, faster drive speed, bigger battery capacity and energy efficiency,” said Tuomas Färlin, Commercial Product and Sales Manager at Avant Techno Oy. “Avant e747 is ideal for various professional uses … construction or demolition sites where raw power and durability are necessities.”
The loader uses four independent electric drive motors, one for each wheel, along with separate hydraulics for auxiliary functions. Avant said series production of the e700-series loaders will begin in the first quarter of next year, but pricing details have not been disclosed.
