Porsche and Audi said on Friday that their electric vehicle (EV) customers will soon be able to use Tesla’s Supercharger network across the United States and Canada, expanding charging access as competition in the EV market intensifies.
Starting Sept. 9, Porsche drivers will be able to connect to more than 23,500 Tesla Superchargers in the region. Audi said select e-tron models will begin gaining access later in September. Both brands will rely on adapters to connect to Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS).
Porsche is rolling out its NACS DC adapter with an initial “soft launch” requiring drivers to activate sessions via Tesla’s mobile app. The company said a more seamless process through the My Porsche app with plug-and-charge capability will be introduced in the coming months. Audi will use its UL2252-certified NACS-to-CCS adapter, with customers also starting sessions through Tesla’s app before integration into the myAudi app and onboard navigation.
For Porsche customers, model year 2026 Taycan and Macan Electric vehicles will include the adapter at no additional cost, while 2025 Taycans and Macan Electrics can reserve a complimentary unit through the My Porsche app. Owners of 2024 or older Taycans will be able to buy the adapter for $250 in Canada or $185 in the United States. Audi’s adapter will come standard with new e-tron purchases beginning September 2025, with pricing and availability for existing owners to be announced. Audi said the Q4 e-tron will not be included in the rollout initially.
Both automakers are also preparing software updates. Porsche said Supercharger locations will be integrated into navigation for 2026 model year Taycan and Macan EVs, with updates for older vehicles to follow. Audi said its app and onboard navigation will similarly begin displaying Tesla charging points as part of the rollout.
Porsche and Audi join a growing list of automakers adopting Tesla’s charging standard, including Ford, General Motors, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, Volvo, Rivian, Lucid, Polestar, Genesis, Honda, Acura and Jaguar Land Rover. BMW, Toyota, Volkswagen and Subaru are among brands set to follow.
