Ford Motor’s performance division has revealed the vehicle it will campaign at the 2025 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb — an all-electric Super Mustang Mach-E, as it targets a third consecutive victory at the storied motorsports event.
The electric demonstrator, designed specifically for the high-altitude race, was shown publicly for the first time following months of speculation about its identity. The Super Mustang Mach-E is based on Ford’s electric crossover but features significant aerodynamic and performance enhancements.
“12 miles of mountain road. 156 turns. 14,115 feet of elevation. This is the @pikespeakhillclimb, and we’re bringing 6,125 lbs of downforce — and @romaindumas_official — to take it on with the Super Mustang Mach-E,” Ford Performance said in a social media post.
The vehicle will be piloted by veteran French racer Romain Dumas, who has been affiliated with Ford Performance since 2022 and has won the Pikes Peak event five times. Dumas secured victories with Ford in 2022 and 2023, including a top division finish last year driving the SuperVan 4.2.
Held annually in Colorado, the Pikes Peak Hill Climb spans 12.42 miles and climbs to an elevation of over 14,000 feet. Known as the “Race to the Clouds,” it has increasingly become a proving ground for electric vehicle technology.
Ford faces stiff competition from fellow electric vehicle manufacturers, including Rivian and Hyundai, both of which set new benchmarks in 2024 for their respective vehicle categories.
The 103rd running of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb is scheduled for June 22, 2025.
