4 Gen Logistics, a US transport company, has recently integrated 41 electric trucks from Volvo Trucks North America into its fleet in California, specifically operating in the Inland Empire metropolitan region.

Having previously utilized a Volvo VNR Electric as part of the Volvo LIGHTS project in 2022, 4 Gen Logistics has since acquired additional electric trucks. These vehicles are currently deployed in southern California, facilitating freight transportation between the Port of Long Beach and distribution warehouses in the area.

Owner of 4 Gen Logistics, David Duncan, highlighted the positive feedback received from drivers regarding their first Volvo VNR Electric deployed in 2022. He stated, “Driver feedback has been extremely positive and played a crucial role in our decision to invest in additional Volvo VNR Electric trucks to support our commitment to operating a 100% zero-tailpipe emission fleet by 2025.”

The electric truck fleet of 4 Gen Logistics covers up to 240 miles per shift, with two driver-shifts per day. The Volvo VNR Electric configuration with six batteries offers a range of up to 275 miles and achieves an 80% charge in approximately 90 minutes.

To support its electric fleet, 4 Gen Logistics is developing charging infrastructure at its property in the port of Long Beach, including 60 350 kW charging stations. Additionally, the company is installing 30 more 350 kW charging stations at its Rialto location in San Bernardino County, California.

In financing its electric fleet, 4 Gen Logistics collaborated with Volvo Financial Services. James Barker, Territory Finance Manager for Electric Mobility at Volvo Financial Services, noted, “By providing resources and support, Volvo Trucks North America and Volvo Financial Services are making the electromobility transition easier for companies like 4 Gen Logistics.”
