Mercedes-Benz officially introduced the EQE electric SUV, completing its electric vehicle portfolio into eight models. The EQE SUV is a tough version of the EQE electric sedan and is built on a bespoke EV platform.
From the exterior, the appearance of the EQE SUV looks like a smaller version of the EQS SUV with several characteristics that make it stand out.
Compared to the EQE sedan, this electric SUV has a shorter wheelbase of 3.5 inches (9 centimeters). Dimensionally, the EQE SUV measures 191.5 inches (4.86 meters) long, 76.4 inches (1.94 meters) wide and 66.4 inches (1.68 meters) high. With these dimensions, the SUV EQE is shorter overall, but wider and taller than the sedan.
As mentioned earlier, the EQE SUV looks almost identical to the EQS SUV (only slightly smaller), with the front fascia being much more similar to the EQE sedan, especially when it comes to the shape of the headlights.
Air suspension is available as an option and can increase ride height by 1 inch, which occurs automatically when the all-wheel drive instance is put into Off-Road mode.
From the interior it comes with a 12.8-inch center screen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and optionally you can opt for a triple-screen 56-inch Hyperscreen lineup that completely changes the look of the dashboard.
Performance wise, four trim levels will be offered with the base SUV EQE 350+ rear-wheel drive 288 horsepower (also with 288 horsepower), then the SUV EQE 350 4Matic all-wheel drive, SUV EQE 500 4Matic 536 horsepower, with the AMG 53 variants limiting range.
The rear-wheel drive variant has the longest range exceeding 550 km (341 miles), at least for the European market where it will be rated on the WLTP test cycle.
The Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 SUV is the most powerful model, with a maximum power of 677 horsepower if you specify the AMG Dynamic Plus package which gives the vehicle a boost mode, otherwise 617 horsepower.
The Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 SUV comes with a sporty exterior, 21 or 22-inch wheels and can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds. It is also the only SUV EQE variant that is not limited to 130 mph (209 km/h) and can go up to 149 mph (239 km/h).
All variants use the same 90.6 kWh battery. DC fast charging capability of up to 170 kW (running on 330 volt electrical architecture) can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 32 minutes. The standard on-board charger is an 11 kW unit, but can be increased to 22 kW as an option.
