The 2023 Kia Niro EV has a range of 253 miles (407 km) and faster charging compared to the previous model. To do a 10-80% charge it only takes less than 45 minutes with a maximum charging capability of 85 kW using the SAE J1772 Level 3 fast charger.
Using an 11 kW onboard charger, the Kia Niro EV 2023 can be recharged in under seven hours with a Level 2 charger.
The all-electric 2023 Niro EV uses a 64.8 kWh battery. This battery pack is slightly larger than the previous model’s 64 kWh pack. The all-electric 2023 Niro EV features a 150-kW (201-hp) motor that powers the front wheels.
The 2023 Niro EV is available with the same onboard vehicle-to-load (V2L) generator function as the EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5.
For the PHEV version, Kia uses a 1.6-liter engine with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a 62 kW electric motor for a total system output of 180 hp and 195 lb-ft (264 Nm) of torque.
The plug-in hybrid model also features an 11.1 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery that can be recharged in under three hours when connected to a Level 2 charger.
