At the 2024 Beijing auto show, Zeekr has revealed its latest innovation: the SEA-M architecture and the Zeekr Mix, the first model to be based on it. This new architecture is part of Zeekr’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) and is designed to support a wide range of products, from passenger cars like robotaxis and MPVs (multi-purpose vehicles) to commercial vehicles for logistics.
According to Zeekr, they have invested over RMB 7 billion ($970 million) to develop the SEA-M architecture, which combines ultimate space, vehicle safety, and swift handling. The architecture aims to create an intelligent “living room” on wheels, with a spacious interior and variable seat placement choices.
Featuring a flat floor, high wheelbase-to-length ratio, and a capsule-styled exterior, every model based on the SEA-M architecture maximizes interior space, providing a spacious and swift driving experience with a turning radius of less than five meters.
The architecture also includes a technical interface for steer-by-wire, allowing for variable steering ratios and the potential to decouple the steering wheel for future advanced intelligent driving.
The Zeekr Mix, the first model built on the SEA-M architecture, is Zeekr’s fifth model overall, aiming to reimagine the spatial experience of future mobility. With a length of 4.7 meters, a wheelbase of 3 meters, and a ground clearance of 39 centimeters, the Zeekr Mix offers 6.3 square meters of cabin space, the largest in its class.
Notably, the Zeekr Mix is the world’s first production car with electrically rotatable front seats that support 270 degrees of rotation. While Zeekr has not announced an official release date for the Zeekr Mix, the model entered a regulatory filing catalog in China last month.
