G7 Taxi, Vietnam’s largest taxi alliance operating in Hanoi, has placed an order for 899 VF 5 electric vehicles from local automaker VinFast, marking a significant step in the group’s transition from petrol-powered taxis to an all-electric fleet. The current order, composed entirely of white-coloured VF 5s, is expected to be fulfilled by the end of 2025.
VinFast described the VF 5 as “especially suitable for urban taxi services thanks to its outstanding advantages in flexible operation and significantly lower operating costs compared to petrol cars of the same price range.”
The VF 5 is a compact SUV measuring 3.9 meters in length, equipped with a 37.23 kWh LFP battery. The model offers an NEDC range of 326.4 kilometers and supports fast charging from 10% to 70% in 33 minutes. Its 100 kW front-mounted motor delivers 135 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 kph in 10.9 seconds. VinFast currently sells the VF 5 for 529 million dong (around €18,000).
G7 Taxi, which consists of 16 member companies with a combined fleet of 4,000 vehicles, aims to replace its internal combustion engine fleet in phases. “For businesses providing transportation services, switching from petrol vehicles to electric vehicles is a practical solution to reduce costs and increase profits; improve service quality for customers, enhance driving experience and work efficiency for drivers; and demonstrate the social responsibility of businesses in protecting the environment,” said Nguyen Hong Hai, General Director of G7 Taxi. “We believe that, together with Xanh SM, G7 will bring green, modern and reliable journeys to customers.”

Looking ahead, G7 Taxi also plans to acquire VinFast’s new Limo Green electric MPV, designed for commercial transportation. The Limo Green, part of VinFast’s new ‘Green’ range, measures 4.7 meters in length and seats up to seven passengers. It is expected to offer a range of 470 kilometers, powered by an LFP battery, though full technical specifications are yet to be disclosed. VinFast plans to launch the Limo Green in Vietnam in August with a starting price of 749 million dong (approximately €25,500).
In a related development, real estate firm First Real Estate recently announced a lease deal for 1,000 VinFast EVs from Green Future, a car rental and used vehicle trading company. These vehicles will support car rental and shuttle services in Da Nang, underscoring a growing national shift toward electric mobility solutions.
