Turkey has just started production and deliveries of its all-electric Togg T10X SUV, and the keys to the very first example have been handed over to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The president noted that his office placed the first order for the T10X back in 2019, and expressed hope that the vehicle would be “auspicious for our nation.”
Despite being a new brand with no proven history, the Togg T10X has garnered strong support from locals. In fact, more than 177,400 people submitted preorders in the first 21 days of its availability, forcing the company to increase its 2023 production plans from 12,000 units to 20,000.
The first version of the Togg T10X SUV to reach the hands of customers features a single, rear-mounted electric motor that produces 218 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Customers can choose between two different-sized battery packs that offer up to 195 miles and 325 miles of range, respectively. This model can hit 62 mph in 7.4 seconds.
A more powerful version of the Togg T10X SUV, with two electric motors that produce 435 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, will be available in October. It can hit 62 mph in 4.8 seconds, and its battery can be charged from 20% to 80% capacity in just 30 minutes.
The Togg T10X is a symbol of Turkey’s technological progress, economic development, and global prestige. With strong demand from the local market, it seems likely that the Togg brand will continue to grow and make waves in the global automotive industry.
