Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) announced that it has introduced the Volvo L20 and L25 electric wheel loader machines now equipped with technical updates and upgrades.
The update includes an increased maximum speed of up to 20 kph (12.4 mph), the option to adjust the parallel connection that delivers high breakout torque in various applications, additional operator-friendly features, and improved charging.
Lars Arnold, Volvo CE Electromobility Product Manager, admitted that with several updates and improvements, the Volvo L25 and L20 are now the first electric powered machines that are rich in advanced features such as supporting operator safety and comfort.
“As the first commercially available electric wheel loaders, the Volvo L25 and L20 are now unique. This upgrade takes them to another level with increased comfort, productivity and uptime,” he said, citing an official release, Wednesday (2/11/). 2022).
In addition, technical upgrades from the two machines are also present in the hydraulic pump and main control valve which is moved to reduce noise levels both inside and outside the cab. Cab heating options are also available for operators in colder climates.
The two electric wheel loaders also get an update in the form of an electric parking brake feature which is claimed to increase working time with functionality that automatically makes operators comfortable working on inclines or rough terrain.
Charging a construction vehicle takes as little as 6 hours for a full charge with the 6 kW on-board charger when a level 2 common charging station is used. Faster charging is possible with the off-board DC fast charger with a power of up to 17.3 kW
Previously, the L25 Electric wheel loader was launched in 2019, with Volvo CE shipping and marketing in the European market in spring 2020 and in North America last summer.
Volvo CE began taking orders for the L20 Electric earlier this year, and deliveries to North America will begin soon. With the start of deliveries, the newly upgraded electric wheel loader will be ready to be felt directly with its customers.
