Tesla’s Model Y has maintained its stronghold as the best-selling electric vehicle globally, with recent data from the China Passenger Car Association underscoring its dominance in the Chinese market.
According to the latest figures, the Model Y outsold competitors from BYD and Nissan, securing the top position in electric vehicle sales for the first half of the year. Tesla’s Model Y achieved sales of 207,817 units, surpassing the BYD Seagull and Nissan Sylphy, which recorded 167,861 and 161,379 units respectively.
Tesla’s performance in China has been robust, with the company concluding the first half of the year on a high note by selling 71,007 vehicles wholesale in June alone, of which 59,261 were sold domestically.

The Model Y’s continued popularity underscores its role in accelerating the transition to electric mobility worldwide.
Despite recent sightings of a Tesla Model Y with revised bumper covers sparking speculation about an upcoming refresh, CEO Elon Musk has clarified that no such update is planned for this year. Musk aims to dispel rumors to avoid affecting current Model Y sales figures negatively.
