Tesla has defied a controversial ban in the United States and introduced its much-anticipated Cyberquad for Kids in the Chinese market. The move comes after the product faced suspension in the US due to what many consider an absurd reason.
Originally, Tesla had partnered with Radio Flyer to release the Cyberquad for Kids as a miniature replica of its forthcoming full-scale electric ATV, which will serve as an optional accessory for the highly anticipated Cybertruck. Equipped with a modest 500-watt electric motor and a 288 Wh battery pack, the toy vehicle boasts a top speed of 16 km/h (10 mph) and provides a range of a few miles.
When Tesla initially released the Cyberquad for Kids, the response was overwhelming. The company swiftly sold out of its first batch of 5,000 units, priced at $1,900 each. However, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, following an incident involving a complaint from a 36-year-old individual who sustained a minor bruise while riding the toy, decided to recall the product. The decision was widely criticized for its disproportionate reaction to a minor injury incurred during typical use.
Undeterred by the setback, Tesla has decided to launch the Cyberquad for Kids in China, making the product available for purchase on its Chinese website. It appears that the Chinese market has eagerly embraced the miniature electric ATV, as the initial inventory quickly sold out.
The specifications provided by Tesla indicate that the Cyberquad for Kids is designed for children aged 8 to 12 years old, with a maximum load capacity of 50 kg. The battery offers approximately 1.5 hours of usage time and a cruising range of 13 km. The electric ATV features two driving speed settings: gear 1 allows speeds up to 4 km/h, while gear 2 enables speeds up to 8 km/h. Powered by a 24V 350W motor and a 21.6V 188Wh Li-ion battery, the vehicle showcases Tesla’s commitment to providing a high-quality experience for young riders.
Tesla’s decision to launch the Cyberquad for Kids in China at a comparable price to its US counterpart demonstrates the company’s determination to bring innovative products to global markets. With its resounding success in China, Tesla hopes to avoid any potential future recall incidents stemming from adult complaints, enabling young riders to enjoy the thrill of the Cyberquad without unnecessary interruptions.
