The Tesla Cybertruck is making headlines not only for its distinctive design and features on the surface but also for its potential role in The Boring Company’s underground tunnel in Las Vegas. The Vegas Loop, a network of tunnels connecting various stations beneath Las Vegas, initially featured autonomous vehicles transporting passengers. However, recent developments suggest that the Cybertruck is set to become part of this tunnel system.
In late December, The Boring Company shared images of the Cybertruck within the tunnel system and at one of the stations. A recent video posted by the city of Las Vegas depicted a Cybertruck entering the tunnel. While neither Tesla nor The Boring Company has officially confirmed the Cybertruck’s availability for passenger rides, details provided by Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority President and CEO Steve Hill indicate its imminent inclusion.

“They’re going to use that truck in the system,” stated Hill, adding that the Cybertruck’s utility, particularly with its pickup truck bed for moving items, could have practical applications. The extent of cargo hauling needs within the tunnel system remains to be determined.

However, immediate implementation of these rides is not expected. Hill clarified, “It has to be approved as a new vehicle in the system by the county, and that hasn’t happened yet.” While the Cybertruck is already an approved vehicle for road use, additional approvals are necessary for its integration into the tunnel system. A statement from Tesla, The Boring Company, or both is anticipated once the necessary approvals are obtained, signaling the availability of the Cybertruck for passenger use in the Vegas Loop.
