Tesla Marks Production of Three Million Cars at Fremont and Giga Nevada

Tesla celebrated a significant milestone on Friday evening, announcing the production of three million cars across its Fremont factory and Gigafactory Nevada. The achievement comes just under two years after the company surpassed the two-million mark at these sites.

In a post on X, Tesla’s main account congratulated the teams at Fremont and Giga Nevada for their accomplishment. The post featured photos of the production team at Gigafactory Fremont alongside the three-millionth electric vehicle (EV) built, a deep blue metallic Model S.

Tesla previously celebrated the production of two million cars at Fremont and Giga Nevada in July 2022, following the production of its millionth car overall in 2020. This earlier milestone coincided with the ramp-up of Gigafactory Shanghai and the construction of Gigafactory Berlin.

Giga Nevada is integral to Tesla’s operations, manufacturing drive motors, powertrains, and battery packs for the Fremont factory. Although Giga Nevada does not produce completed EVs, its contributions were recognized in both the two-million and three-million milestones.

The Fremont factory has been recognized as one of the most productive automotive plants in the U.S. Despite the increased production capabilities of Tesla’s other factories, Fremont remains a crucial component of the company’s global strategy, maintaining high efficiency and productivity.

Tesla is currently expanding Giga Nevada to boost production of its 4680 battery cells and the electric Semi. The expansion, which began in January, is expected to create 6,500 full-time jobs and produce enough 4680 battery cells to supply two million light-duty vehicles per year.

Earlier this year, Tesla began producing the updated Model 3 “Highland” at Fremont. The vehicle launched in late 2023 in various markets. Tesla also introduced a highly anticipated Model 3 Performance configuration for the refreshed sedan, priced at $54,990 in the U.S. before federal and local tax credits.

“Reaching three million cars produced at Fremont and Giga Nevada is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our teams,” said Tesla CEO Elon Musk. “These milestones reflect our commitment to innovation and sustainable transportation.”

The continued expansion and milestones at Tesla’s key production sites underscore the company’s rapid growth and ambitious plans for the future.
