Tesla has started rolling out the newest point version of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) (Supervised) software, marked as FSD v12.3.5, to owners as part of the 2024.3.20 software update, following the recent deployment of v12.3.4 earlier this month. This release comes after Tesla officially replaced the term “beta” with “supervised” for its FSD software at the end of last month.
The FSD v12 software is a crucial component of Tesla’s autonomous driving strategy, as it shifts to utilizing end-to-end neural network control for functions like steering, acceleration, and braking, which were previously governed by human-written code. This latest update eliminates over 300,000 lines of human-written code, fully transitioning to rely on its neural network trained with millions of frames of real-world driving scenarios.

Tesla has been aggressively pushing its FSD (Supervised) platform in recent weeks, halving the software’s price for subscription purchases and reducing pricing for one-time vehicle add-on purchases. CEO Elon Musk also announced plans to unveil Tesla’s robotaxi platform in August, coinciding with the FSD fleet surpassing one billion cumulative miles driven.
In a bid to accelerate adoption, Tesla began offering one-month free trials of the software on customer-owned vehicles and mandatory test drives for new buyers. Investors are eager for updates during Tesla’s upcoming Q1 earnings call, particularly regarding the company’s timeline for launching a revenue-generating network for the FSD platform.
