Tesla has initiated repairs on Cybertruck units following a recent recall prompted by concerns over the accelerator pedal. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued the recall, leading Tesla to halt Cybertruck deliveries and cancel customer appointments over the weekend.

At the Cyber Takeover Cybertruck meetup event in Long Beach, California, on Saturday, Tesla technicians began addressing the problem by installing a small rivet beneath the pedal. This fix, demonstrated in a video, reportedly takes just 35 seconds to complete.

Jim McGlone, a Cybertruck owner from Virginia, shared on Facebook that he was able to pick up his vehicle after Tesla canceled his delivery appointment. He noted that Tesla had installed a small rivet at the bottom of the accelerator pedal to secure the cover temporarily. Tesla also plans to design and ship a new pedal to owners in the future.

Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, stated after the delivery pause that there had been no injuries or accidents related to the accelerator pedal issue. He emphasized that Tesla was “just being very cautious” with the recall.

Tesla is currently increasing Cybertruck production at its Gigafactory in Austin, Texas. According to data from Cox Automotive, the company delivered 2,803 units of the vehicle in the first quarter.
