Tesla and Uber Offer $2,000 Incentive Program for Model 3 and Model Y Purchases

Tesla and Uber have launched an incentive program valued at up to $2,000 to encourage ride-share drivers to switch to electric vehicles. Eligible Uber drivers purchasing a new Tesla Model 3 or Model Y can receive $1,000 in Tesla credits upon delivery and another $1,000 from Uber after completing 100 trips, Tesla announced on a dedicated section of its website.

“Eligible Uber drivers who purchase a new Model 3 or Model Y vehicle can receive $1,000 in Tesla Credits upon taking delivery, and $1,000 in cash from Uber after completing 100 trips,” the website states, with Tesla Credits available for Supercharging, service, and select shop items. Tesla noted that the credits are non-transferable, cannot be redeemed for cash, and are limited to specific purchases.

Both Tesla and Uber see this as an opportunity to expand EV adoption among Uber drivers. In a recent interview, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi expressed interest in adding Tesla’s self-driving Cybercab Robotaxi to the Uber platform, citing the company’s growing focus on autonomous vehicles. He remarked, “I’d love to have [the Cybercab Robotaxi] on the platform.”

The collaboration reflects ongoing efforts by Uber to transition to a fully electric fleet by 2040, with over 180,000 electric vehicles currently available for booking on its platform worldwide. The companies previously collaborated on similar incentives for EV purchases, including a $2,000 offer for Model 3 and Model Y purchases earlier this year.
