The Polish city of Szczecin is further advancing its electric bus fleet with a new order for 14 additional electric buses from Solaris. This latest order will bring the city’s total fleet of electric buses to 30, as it continues to electrify its public transportation network.

The new order includes four Urbino 12 Electric buses, each 12 meters in length, and ten articulated Urbino 18 Electric buses. These buses will join the 16 Solaris electric buses already in operation in the city.

Both the Urbino 12 and 18 models will be equipped with a central electric motor and Solaris High Energy batteries, known for their high energy density and capacity. Charging will be facilitated via pantograph and plug-in stations.

The vehicles will come with a range of advanced features, including full-vehicle air conditioning, electric heating, Wi-Fi access, monitoring systems, and an integrated alcohol detection system to ensure driver and passenger safety. Additionally, the buses will be connected to Solaris’ fleet management system, ‘eSConnect,’ for streamlined operations.

Szczecin began its journey toward electrification in 2020 with an initial purchase of eight articulated electric buses. A follow-up order was placed in April 2021, and this latest expansion reflects the city’s ongoing commitment to sustainable urban transport.

Solaris has also been increasing its fuel cell bus deliveries in other regions, including France and the Czech Republic, while continuing to see strong demand for its electric buses, highlighted by a major order from Transdev Nederland last month.
