Skoda Accelerates Electric Ambitions with Plans to Launch Six EVs by 2026

Skoda, the Czech Volkswagen brand, is making strides towards its electric vehicle goals. By 2026, Skoda plans to have six electric models, including four completely new EVs and two updated versions of the Enyaq iV family. This is an expansion from the three electric vehicle models announced last year, which included a small car, a compact SUV, and a seven-seater SUV.

Skoda’s compact SUV, named Elroq, is set to be released in 2024. In 2025, revised versions of the Enyaq iV and Enyaq iV CoupĆ© will be released, as well as a small electric car with a base price of around ā‚¬25,000. Following these releases, Skoda plans to unveil a “spacious” electric sedan and a seven-seater electric SUV based on the Vision 7S show car in 2026.

The Elroq, positioned below the Enyaq, will likely be in the 4.40 to 4.50-metre range, similar to the combustion model Karoq. It is expected to be based on the familiar MEB platform, with a revised MEB+ variant set to feature VW’s unit cell in the battery, potentially available in 2025.

The facelifts for the Enyaq and Enyaq CoupƩ are also in the works, with the possibility of VW Group switching to the MEB+ platform or introducing the revised platform with new models. New developments in the MEB platform, such as the APP550 rear engine, the 86 kWh battery from the VW ID.7 Pro S, and a 15-inch touchscreen in the interior, may also find their way into the Enyaq variants.

Skoda’s small electric car is set to be a small SUV based on the MEB Entry of the ID.2all study. Two small cars and two small SUVs are also planned, with the Skoda offshoot being a separate model from the speculated Elroq. A new electric estate model, around 4.70 metres long, is also in the works, with a world premiere set for 2026.

The largest of Skoda’s upcoming electric models will be a seven-seater SUV, slightly exceeding the size of the Superb combustion sedan. Little information is currently available about the platform or technology of this model.

Skoda’s commitment to expanding its range of electric vehicles is a promising step towards a sustainable future. With a variety of new models in the works, Skoda is poised to make a significant contribution to the electric vehicle market.
