Siemens Smart Infrastructure has secured a contract with Unibuss, one of the major bus operators in Oslo, to supply its Depot360 managed services solution. This system will be utilized to optimize Unibuss’ fleet management and charging infrastructure for their growing fleet of electric buses.
Unibuss, which operates 259 electric buses across 51 routes, selected Siemens’ Depot360 Managed Services to enhance the efficiency of their existing charging infrastructure. The Depot360 solution, launched in April 2024, provides a comprehensive service that is adaptable to various charging infrastructures and is designed for logistics companies and municipal transport services. Siemens highlights its capacity to help manage challenging winter conditions and enable 24/7 monitoring of charging processes.
Through Siemens’ Network Operations Centre (NOC), a team of specialists will monitor and control the performance of the charging infrastructure using fleet-centric algorithms and artificial intelligence. This will help detect and address potential issues before they impact operations, as well as reduce energy costs through load shifting and peak load reduction.
Henrik Anderberg, Technical Director at Unibuss, stated that optimizing electric fleet operations is crucial for Norway’s sustainability goals, adding, “With Depot360 Managed Services, we can enhance our operational efficiency, reduce energy costs, and improve route completion rates, supporting our goal to reduce our carbon footprint in public transportation.”
Alan White, Head of Emerging Transportation Platforms at Siemens Smart Infrastructure, emphasized the importance of this partnership in advancing transportation electrification, noting that Depot360 will be key in improving the reliability and efficiency of Unibuss’ fleet operations.
