Rivian has claimed the top spot in Consumer Reports’ latest owner satisfaction survey for the second consecutive year, with 86% of its owners saying they would buy another vehicle from the automaker. This marks a significant achievement for the relatively new company, which continues to lead the industry in customer approval.
The survey, which surveyed over 300,000 vehicles, saw Rivian outperforming other automakers in owner satisfaction. Tesla, while still highly regarded, ranked third, with a slight dip in satisfaction compared to last year. Tesla rose two positions in the rankings but lost two percentage points in the question about whether owners would purchase another vehicle from the company.
The top three positions in the survey were dominated by electric automakers, with Rivian leading, followed by a three-way tie between BMW, Tesla, and Porsche. However, the results suggest that automakers with fewer models may have an advantage, as they can focus on perfecting a smaller lineup.
Consumer Reports noted that manufacturers with consistently high satisfaction across most of their models tend to see stronger performance in such surveys. In contrast, automakers with larger, diverse lineups sometimes struggle to maintain consistency across all their vehicles. Jeep and Stellantis brands were at the bottom of the rankings, with Mercedes, Volkswagen, and Nissan also experiencing less favorable results.
