Rivian has officially opened orders for its all-electric commercial van, previously exclusive to Amazon. The van, available in two variants—the Delivery 500 and Delivery 700—starts at US$79,990 and offers businesses a sustainable and efficient solution for electrifying their delivery fleets. Deliveries are expected to begin in April 2025.
Initially developed as part of a landmark partnership with Amazon, the Rivian commercial van gained attention when the e-commerce giant committed to deploying 100,000 electric vans by 2030.

By 2022, Rivian had delivered the first wave of these vehicles, and Amazon’s fleet now includes over 20,000 units. Now, Rivian is expanding access to this proven vehicle, opening it to other commercial customers.
The Delivery 500 variant features a 100 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, providing an EPA-rated range of 161 miles (259 km) on a single charge, making it ideal for urban and regional delivery operations. Meanwhile, the Delivery 700 variant offers a larger cargo capacity with a slightly reduced range of 153 miles (246 km).
Both models are powered by a front-wheel drive (FWD) single-motor powertrain delivering 320 horsepower. The 500 Series has a curb weight of 6,837 lbs, while the 700 Series weighs 7,242 lbs. Both variants support 100 kW DC fast charging and come equipped with advanced driver-assistance features, including 360-degree cameras and automatic bulkhead doors.

Designed with fleet operators in mind, the Rivian commercial van offers several advantages. It aims to lower the total cost of ownership by reducing fuel and maintenance costs compared to traditional gasoline-powered vans.
The ergonomic design includes a low step-in height and a spacious cargo area, which, combined with the automatic sliding bulkhead door, improves delivery efficiency.
Additionally, Rivian’s van supports CCS fast charging and includes an adapter for Tesla’s NACS standard, allowing it to integrate seamlessly with a variety of charging infrastructures.

The launch of this commercial van marks a significant step in Rivian’s broader strategy to expand its presence in the electric vehicle (EV) market.
While the company has focused on consumer vehicles such as the R1T pickup and R1S SUV, entering the commercial sector offers an opportunity to scale production and achieve profitability. Rivian also plans to expand into the European market in 2025 and to unveil the R2 model in 2026.
