Renault is set to showcase its Twingo E-Tech electric prototype show car at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, taking place from October 14 to 20. First revealed in November 2023, this marks the public’s first opportunity to see the electric vehicle.

The Twingo has been a significant player in the automotive world since its introduction in 1992, known for its vibrant colors and ability to enhance everyday life, embodying Renault’s philosophy of “les voitures à vivre.” The Twingo E-Tech electric prototype aims to reignite this legacy with an all-electric design tailored for urban driving without compromises.

This prototype retains the essence of the original Twingo, featuring a compact monovolume silhouette that allows for agility in city environments. Its five-door configuration enhances practicality, while the fixed glass roof floods the spacious interior with natural light, emphasizing Renault’s vision of livable vehicles.

Renault has infused modernity into the Twingo E-Tech electric prototype with contemporary design details inspired by its predecessor. The updated headlamps, now encased in floating LED rings, lend the vehicle a tech-savvy and attractive appearance. The rear design echoes the iconic Twingo tail, with a black rim around the rear windshield adding a contemporary twist, and the uniquely shaped protruding taillights enhancing its high-tech vibe. The Twingo lettering on the tailgate adds a playful touch.

This prototype features an unmistakable face, characterized by expressive headlamps and clean lines that evoke familiarity and connection. The headlamps, reminiscent of the first generation, protrude from the body, contributing to a distinctive, modern look.

Light pours into the passenger compartment through the ample glass roof, creating an open atmosphere. The vehicle also pays homage to its heritage with door handles that light up, mirroring the design of the 1992 model. Additionally, three small openings on the bonnet serve as a nostalgic nod to the car’s legacy, although they serve no functional purpose in this all-electric version.

The Twingo E-Tech electric prototype represents the next chapter in a legacy that spans over 30 years and hints at the fourth-generation production Twingo set to launch in 2026. Developed by Ampere, the aim is to keep the entry price below €20,000, aligning with Renault’s commitment to making electric mobility accessible to a wider audience, similar to its other electric models, including the Renault 5 E-Tech, Renault 4 E-Tech, Megane E-Tech, and Scenic E-Tech.
