Regio, a leading Swedish property company, and IONITY, a high-power charging (HPC) network operator, have announced a strategic partnership to build 12 new charging stations with 108 public high-power charging points across Sweden. The stations will be located at retail sites on key highway junctions, making it easy for both long-distance travelers and EV owners to access fast, public charging. With charging capacity of up to 350 kW, EV drivers will be able to recharge their batteries to 80% capacity in less than 30 minutes.

The 12 new sites will provide a significant boost to Swedenā€™s rapidly growing EV charging infrastructure, which is vital to the countryā€™s efforts to decarbonize mobility. As EV range continues to increase, fast charging has become a key pillar of public infrastructure. IONITY already operates 23 stations and 136 high-power chargers in Sweden, but the new partnership with Regio marks a major step forward in expanding IONITYā€™s presence in the country.

According to IONITY COO Marcus Groll, ā€œGrowing our high-power charging network across Europe is a top priority for us.ā€ The partnership with Regio will enable IONITY to offer charging hubs in urban areas and create value for tenants and their customers while addressing the shortage of public EV chargers in Sweden. Regio CEO Eric Bergstrƶm adds, ā€œWeā€™re thrilled to partner with IONITY to make a significant contribution to the EV charging infrastructure in Sweden.ā€

The planning process for the 12 new stations has already begun, with most of them expected to be built in 2023. Each site will offer six to twelve high-power chargers, providing EV drivers with a convenient way to integrate charging into their daily commute and improving the long-distance electric travel experience.

The IONITY network is open to electric vehicles of all brands that use the standard CCS plug. All stations provide a consistent customer experience, barrier-free access, and customer support in nine languages available 24/7.

Overall, the new partnership between Regio and IONITY represents a significant step forward for EV charging in Sweden and supports the countryā€™s ambitious efforts to decarbonize transportation.
