Ram Names First Electric Pickup 1500 REV, Production Start in 2024

Ram’s first electric pickup has finally been officially named. The truck, set to go into production in 2024, will be referred to as the 1500 REV. Ram CEO Mike Koval made the announcement at the Chicago Auto Show, stating that the name is easy to market and clearly differentiates it from their traditional ICE models.

Koval considers the REV to be a direct descendant of the 1500 Revolution concept that was unveiled at last month’s CES expo in Las Vegas. The REV title is straightforward and easy to understand, according to Koval, who believes it will appeal to both current and potential customers.

“At Ram, we started a revolution last year as we invited consumers along on the beginning of our electrification journey, gathering their feedback on exactly what they are looking for in an electric pickup truck,” said Mike Koval Jr., Ram brand CEO, Stellantis. “We look forward to delivering our first EV pickup – the all-new Ram 1500 REV – to those consumers next year. We are confident the Ram 1500 REV will push past the competition, offering what will be the leading combination of attributes customers care about the most: range, payload, towing, and charge time.”

In addition to the truck, Ram is also showcasing a smart storage smartphone app at the Chicago Auto Show. The app will help customers determine if an item can be transported in their vehicle by scanning its barcode or using an augmented reality camera measuring tool.

The app will also provide guidance on how to best position the item in the truck with its interior and exterior cabin projectors.

Koval sees the app as the result of creative brainstorming sessions where the company challenged itself to push boundaries. He said, “That’s what happens when you put all of these game-changers into a room and you let them completely rewrite the game altogether.”
