Q8 and renewable energy company Storm are set to build a high-power charging (HPC) network with up to 200 locations in Belgium over the next five years. Each site will feature 10 to 16 Kempower chargers, with the first four sites slated to be operational this month.
The initiative involves an investment of 250 million euros. Q8 will operate the fast-charging stations under long-term leases, while Storm will handle development and construction.

The fast-charging parks will be strategically located nationwide near main traffic routes and city centers, ensuring high visibility and accessibility. Each location will offer ten to 16 Kempower fast-charging points, supporting both CCS and CHAdeMO standards. The exact distribution of these charging points has not been specified.
Q8 and Storm indicate that each charging point will provide up to 400 kW of power, specifically for CCS connectors. Kempower’s Satellite system will dynamically distribute the total charging power among the individual points. Kempower revealed that the setup will include configurations of 2x (2x 400kW), 1x 400kW, and 1x 600kW power units, with each location hosting four to ten charging points.

These chargers will accommodate electric cars, light electric trucks, and electric vans, and will be accessible to people with disabilities. Payment options will include all current charging cards, the Q8 electric app, and debit or credit cards.
In addition to the charging facilities, the HPC hubs will offer a range of services. Half of the planned 200 locations will feature shops offering a variety of sandwiches and premium coffee, in partnership with Delhaize and Panos. A quarter of the locations will include fast-food restaurants.

Over the next five years, Q8 and Storm plan to construct 40 new fast-charging parks annually, averaging one every ten days. The initial sites in Beringen, Aalter, Waasmunster, and Kampenhout are expected to commence operations this month.
According to Kempower, the charging points will be “accessible to people with disabilities,” and payments can be made using “all current charging cards, with the Q8 electric app, and with any debit or credit card.”
