Pure EV, an Indian electric scooter OEM, has joined forces with Pragmatic Design Solutions (PDSL) to create a cutting-edge electric 2-wheeler powered by solid-state battery technology. This collaboration marks a significant step for both companies, as they aim to cater to both the Indian and international markets with a focus on performance and sustainability.
The joint venture, which is expected to attract £30 – 40 million in investment, will be based at the Coventry University Technology Park in the UK. The development of the high-performance vehicle is already underway, with plans for an early 2025 launch.
Rohit Vadera, CEO of Pure EV, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Having tasted success in the electric 2-wheeler commuter segment, PURE EV is excited to be entering the premium scooter segment. By joining forces with PDSL UK, we are poised to unlock new opportunities and bring to market products that not only meet but exceed the expectations of our customers.”
The new electric 2-wheeler is designed to seamlessly integrate advanced technology with sustainable design principles. It is expected to offer a range of 250 kilometers, a top speed of over 100 kph, and an AI-based power-train platform for user-friendly troubleshooting, along with a fast on-board charger.
Steve Simplay, Director of Manufacturing Supply Chain Solutions at PDSL, highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting Pure EV’s growth. “PDSL will leverage its unmatched electrification engineering and supply chain capabilities to bolster the future growth of PURE EV, through the establishment of a newly created Joint Venture for Research & Development,” he said.
