Polestar elease its latest over-the-air software update, P2.9. This update brings exciting new features to Polestar 2 drivers worldwide, including YouTube integration, enhancements to Range Assist, and improvements to Apple CarPlay functionality.
The Polestar 2 holds a special place in the company’s lineup as its first-ever battery electric vehicle (BEV) model. Since its debut in 2020, the Polestar 2 has undergone a couple of refreshing updates and has consistently received over-the-air updates to ensure owners benefit from the latest advancements in user experience (UX), range efficiency, and safety.
Today, Polestar celebrates the fifteenth over-the-air update for the Polestar 2, presenting drivers with a range of new display features and the highly anticipated integration of the YouTube app for added entertainment during charging or while parked.
Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath expressed his excitement about the P2.9 update, stating, “We know how much our customers look forward to over-the-air upgrades, and I am convinced this one will be well received, with notable new features and enhancements. YouTube is great for entertainment while charging, and our updated Range Assistant app delivers more accurate predictions and supports an improved driving style. Bringing Apple Maps to the driver display is one of many important updates to Apple CarPlay in Polestar 2.”
One of the standout features introduced in the P2.9 update is an upgraded version of the Range Assistant app. This enhancement allows drivers to monitor real-time, granular details of their energy consumption, enabling them to make adjustments to their driving style and enhance overall range efficiency. Additionally, the Range Assistant now factors in environmental and external conditions that influence efficiency, providing drivers with more accurate projections of their vehicle’s range based on their driving habits.
Furthermore, the latest OTA update extends the capabilities of Apple CarPlay on the Polestar 2. Users can now access additional phone and media information directly from the EV’s home screen, including convenient controls such as “play/pause” and “next/previous” buttons. Moreover, when utilizing Apple Maps for navigation, drivers can view the route on both the center screen and the driver display simultaneously, ensuring seamless guidance throughout their journey.
Polestar 2 owners can anticipate receiving the P2.9 OTA software update soon, with current owners receiving the update today and new models being equipped with it by default moving forward. This update underscores Polestar’s commitment to continuously enhancing the ownership experience and providing customers with the latest technological advancements in their vehicles. Stay tuned for the exciting changes coming your way!
