PoGo, the British charging network operator, has announced a new partnership with Kew Green Hotels to construct 40 charging hubs across hotel brands including Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Voco, and Courtyard by Marriott. The collaboration will see the installation of 200 charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) at 40 hotels operated by Kew Green Hotels, with a mix of 200kW HPC chargers and AC outlets for overnight charging per site. Construction is expected to begin in the summer of 2023 and conclude by the end of the year, with all charging power sourced exclusively from renewable sources.
The partnership aims to provide a major boost to EV drivers across the UK and enhance the hotels’ ability to meet their guests’ needs sustainably. Kew Green Hotels recently obtained Planet Mark certification and is committed to reducing its CO2 footprint through various initiatives, including providing guests with choices to be more sustainable. Chris Dexter, CEO of Kew Green Hotels, said that offering access to EV charging would not only provide more choices for guests, but also allow the hotels to extend access to the wider EV driver community.
PoGo’s Executive Director, Eugenio Herrero, expressed delight at forming the strategic partnership with Kew Green Hotels, highlighting the project’s potential to benefit both EV drivers and hotels. The announcement follows the recent unveiling of PoGo’s plans to develop an HPC charging network throughout England, Scotland, and Wales. As the charging infrastructure for EVs continues to expand, initiatives such as this will be essential in accelerating the adoption of cleaner transportation and promoting sustainable practices in the hospitality industry.
