PepsiCo is taking its commitment to sustainability to the next level by investing in Tesla’s largest Megacharger to date. The Megacharger is designed specifically to recharge the all-electric Tesla Semi, of which PepsiCo took delivery of the first units for its own use and that of its subsidiary, Frito-Lay. The Semis have already been spotted in operation, but to fully utilize these vehicles, charging infrastructure is imperative.
Recently, permits were filed by PepsiCo to install the massive and powerful Megacharger at its bottling and distribution center in Fresno, California. The information was posted on Twitter by the account Megacharged (@MarcoRPTesla) and reported by Teslarati. This investment by PepsiCo shows the company’s dedication to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting sustainable transportation solutions.

With the installation of the Megacharger, PepsiCo will be able to quickly and efficiently charge its fleet of Tesla Semis, allowing for seamless and uninterrupted operations. This marks a significant step in the journey towards a greener future for both PepsiCo and the transportation industry as a whole.
PepsiCo, the multinational food and beverage conglomerate, is set to have the largest Tesla Megacharger station yet installed on its premises. The facility will feature eight stalls, according to recent reports. While news about the Tesla Semi has largely centered around its use by Frito-Lay, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, it’s worth noting that PepsiCo was actually the first company to place an order for the electric hauler, purchasing 100 units back in 2017.
Initially, the buzz around the Tesla Semi was focused on PepsiCo, but it seemed that all the vehicles were going to Frito-Lay and being used solely by the snack company. However, it turns out that Frito-Lay has been using the Tesla Semi for day trips, leading to more information and visibility surrounding the operations in Modesto, California, compared to the Fresno location.
With PepsiCo doubling down on its investment and expanding its charging infrastructure, it’s likely that we will soon see more Tesla Semis coming in and out of the Fresno facility. The nature of PepsiCo’s beverage loads may differ significantly from Frito-Lay’s snacks, and it will be interesting to see how the vehicles perform on different routes and distances.
Despite reports that PepsiCo was supposed to receive 15 Tesla Semis this year, there’s little verifiable information about the actual number of vehicles delivered so far. Other companies have also placed orders for the electric truck, and it remains to be seen when they will begin taking delivery. The expansion of PepsiCo’s charging infrastructure and the deployment of more Tesla Semis are sure to be watched with great interest in the coming months.
