Porsche racer Pascal Wehrlein claimed victory in both Formula E Race 1 and Race 2 in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia on January 27-28, 2023. The German driver defeated his toughest competitor, Jake Dennis of Andretti, who only finished second in both races.
An intense battle for third place took place between Rene Rast (McLaren) and Sam Bird (Jaguar), with Rast successfully overtaking Bird at the finish. This result was Rast’s revenge against Bird from the day before.
British rookie Jake Hughes (Mercedes), who started from pole position, was left finishing in fifth place after running out of power in the final moments before the race was over.

“Our racing speed was outstanding, once again today we had a perfect strategy,” said Wehrlein, who started from fifth position on the grid and became the fifth Formula E driver to win both races in one weekend.
“This weekend will be one I will never forget,” added the former Formula 1 driver, as quoted by Reuters on January 28, 2023.
This result means Porsche’s powertrain has completed one-two in every race so far this season.
Wehrlein currently leads the Formula E standings with 68 points compared to Dennis’ 62, with Sebastien Buemi of Envision Racing in third with 31 points.
