Opel, a subsidiary of Stellantis, has commenced orders for its new electric SUV, the Frontera Electric, across multiple European markets, offering competitive pricing and versatile configurations.
“In its home market of Germany, the battery-electric Frontera is available for 28,990 euros with an 83 kW electric drive and a 44 kWh battery,” Opel announced, highlighting the model’s specifications and pricing strategy.
The Frontera Electric is also set to launch in Italy at a starting price of 27,400 euros, while in Spain, the vehicle will debut at under 25,000 euros, leveraging local subsidies to lower costs significantly.
“Our new Opel Frontera shines with outstanding packaging and an exemplary price-performance ratio,” commented Opel CEO Florian Hüttl. “The robust interpretation of our bold and clear design philosophy will inspire customers just as much as the highly competitive prices for the optional electrified or all-electric model.”
Opel plans to introduce a hybrid variant alongside the electric version, aiming to expand its appeal across different segments of the market. The hybrid pricing will be announced shortly in the Netherlands, where initially only the Frontera Electric will be available starting at 30,499 euros.
The Frontera Electric, built on the CMP Smart Car platform, will eventually offer a ‘Long Range’ version capable of driving up to approximately 400 kilometers on a single charge, although specific details on this variant have yet to be confirmed.
“Opel is committed to enhancing accessibility to electric mobility with our new Frontera,” Hüttl added. “The newcomer underlines our ambition to make electric mobility even more accessible for everyone.”
The Frontera lineup features two distinct equipment lines, Edition and GS, offering a range of advanced features such as OpelConnect services, LED headlights, and a comprehensive driver information display.
While the initial focus is on the Frontera Electric, Opel anticipates a robust response to its hybrid variant offerings as it continues to expand its footprint in the competitive European electric vehicle market.
