Ola Electric, India’s leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has announced its foray into the electric three-wheeler market, with its first model expected to debut in the second half of 2025. The expansion comes as part of the company’s broader strategy to diversify its portfolio, which includes plans to launch 20 new products by 2026.
“Yes, we are building three-wheelers,” said Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder and Chairman of Ola Electric, during the company’s Q2 FY2025 earnings call, confirming recent media speculation. Aggarwal highlighted that Ola Electric aims to leverage components from its high-volume electric two-wheelers, such as the S1 series, to lower production costs and offer competitive pricing for its upcoming three-wheelers.
Ola Electric showcased two electric three-wheelers in its product pipeline during the presentation. The company plans to launch a passenger autorickshaw, reportedly named ‘Raahi,’ in the second half of 2025, followed by a cargo model in late 2026. Both models will share a similar design language and utilize existing technology, including electronics, battery architecture, and powertrains from Ola’s electric scooters.
Ola Electric has seen rapid growth in India’s booming electric two-wheeler market, with sales surging from 20,948 units in FY2022 to 329,618 units in FY2024. However, the company is yet to achieve profitability and faces challenges related to quality control and service backlogs, which Aggarwal acknowledged need to be addressed as it prepares for the launch of its new offerings.
