Nissan’s Interstar van, now available in an electric variant, is set to hit dealerships this month with a range of up to 460 kilometers on a single charge.
Built in collaboration with Renault, the Interstar shares a platform with the Renault Master E-Tech, first introduced by the French automaker last year.
The electric Interstar offers two battery options: a 40 kWh version and an 87 kWh variant. The larger battery, supporting up to 130 kW of charging power, allows for a quick 30-minute recharge, adding up to 252 kilometers of range.
Standard for both battery configurations is an 11 kW AC charger, with an optional upgrade to a 22 kW AC charger available for the 87 kWh model.
While Nissan has yet to confirm motor specifications, the Renault Master E-Tech offers 96 or 105 kW motors, suggesting similar output for the Interstar. The vehicle’s initial release will be in the L2H2 configuration, providing a load area of 3,855 x 1,312 mm and a volume of 10.8 cubic meters.
It carries a permissible weight of 3.5 tonnes, with options reaching up to four tonnes and payloads up to 1.6 tonnes. The chassis variant offers an increased payload capacity of 1.9 tonnes, while maximum towing capacity is rated at 2.5 tonnes.
Available in various configurations, including Tipper, Dropside, and Box Van, the Interstar also boasts a 20% reduction in aerodynamic drag compared to its combustion-engine predecessor.
Nissan Germany has listed a starting price of €53,380 (excluding VAT) for the Interstar-e, though pricing details for other European markets have not yet been announced.
