Nissan has launched the NISSAN ENERGY Charge Network, aimed at improving the electric vehicle (EV) charging experience for Ariya drivers. This service, integrated into the MyNISSAN app, will provide access to over 90,000 public fast chargers across the United States, enabling users to locate chargers, check availability, and process payments through a single platform, with availability expected by November 2024.
The NISSAN ENERGY Charge Network centralizes charging management within the MyNISSAN app, allowing drivers to efficiently manage their charging sessions. This integration enables users to save payment information and initiate charging at compatible stations with ease. Partnerships with charging networks such as Electrify America, Shell Recharge, ChargePoint, and EVgo will enhance the service’s reach, with additional partnerships anticipated. Initially, this feature will be exclusive to Ariya drivers, while Nissan LEAF owners can continue using the NissanConnect EV and Services app for charging station access.
To further enhance convenience, Nissan will offer North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters for Ariya drivers, facilitating access to Tesla Supercharger locations and potentially increasing charging options. From 2025 onwards, new Nissan EV models in the U.S. and Canada will be equipped with NACS ports, ensuring compatibility with Tesla’s charging network.
The Nissan Ariya, which offers an EPA-estimated driving range of up to 304 miles, has a starting price of $39,590 for the 2024 model year. The vehicle has received recognition for its safety and performance, including the IIHS 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK designation and inclusion in the Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems list for its e-4ORCE technology. As part of its broader strategy, Nissan plans to introduce 16 new electrified models by 2026 under its Arc mid-term business plan.
