Nio announced today that its Jia Dian (加电) mobile app has exceeded 5 million registered users, solidifying its position as a key player in the country’s EV charging landscape. Launched in September 2019, the app has become popular among EV owners for its wide range of features and comprehensive coverage of public charging infrastructure.

The Jia Dian App, which translates to “add power,” boasts compatibility with 90 percent of public charging piles in China, offering services such as scanning charging QR codes, smart path planning, route navigation, and community interaction. Nio Power, the company’s energy replenishment platform, facilitates access to over 1.01 million charging piles from 49 charging service operators, complementing Nio’s 2,402 battery swap stations and 21,912 charging piles.

With a coverage spanning 363 cities in China, the Jia Dian App has facilitated 20.71 million charging services and 450 million kWh of power usage for 205 brands of EVs. Notable brands utilizing the app for charging include Nio, Tesla, BYD, Xpeng, and GAC Aion.

A standout feature of the Jia Dian App is its community section, where users can share charging experiences and reviews. The platform has amassed over 2.61 million charging reviews and posts, aiding EV users in finding reliable charging resources.

Looking ahead, Nio plans to introduce a membership feature to the Jia Dian App at the end of May, allowing users to access charging discounts. This move is expected to further enhance the app’s appeal among EV owners.

Since its inception, the Jia Dian App has seen rapid growth in user numbers, surpassing 1 million registered users in June 2022, over 2 million in January 2023, and over 3 million in July 2023. This milestone underscores the app’s popularity and its contribution to facilitating convenient and efficient charging solutions for EV owners across China.
