Okray’s recruitment follows the naming of former GM executives Stephen Girsky as CEO in August and Mary Chan as chief operating officer in September.

“My connection with some of Nikola’s leadership spanning decades made the decision even more natural,” Okray stated in a press release, indicating that he will assume his new role immediately.

Okray’s career includes a 14-year tenure at GM that concluded in June 2015. During his time there, he progressed from a senior analyst to CFO of a division, where he supervised projects related to future vehicle development, profitability optimization, and material procurement.

At Amazon, Okray held the position of vice president of finance in the global customer fulfillment division.

This appointment comes after the former finance chief, Anastasiya Pasterick, announced her resignation to pursue other opportunities.

In February, the electric truck maker forecasted deliveries of up to 350 hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric trucks for the year and reported a reduced loss in the fourth quarter.
