Mullen Automotive Initiates Production of Mullen THREE Class 3 Electric Trucks

Mullen Automotive, an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer founded in 2014, has reached a significant milestone as it enters the production phase of its Mullen THREE Class 3 electric trucks. With an extensive history marked by innovation and strategic shifts, the company is now focused on delivering its promise of domestically manufactured affordable EVs.

This accomplishment comes after Mullen Automotive’s recent merger in 2020, a pivotal moment in which the company redirected its business strategy towards crafting its own unique EV model, the FIVE crossover SUV. However, it was in September 2022 that the company caught industry attention by acquiring a majority stake in Bollinger Motors’ commercial EV business. This strategic move signaled Mullen’s intent to resurrect Bollinger’s previously halted B1 and B2 electric truck projects.

Building on this momentum, Mullen Automotive expanded its reach further by acquiring Electric Last Mile Solutions (ELMs) and its assets, including a sprawling 650,000-square-foot production facility situated in Indiana. Amid ongoing development of passenger EVs under the Mullen and Bollinger brands, Mullen’s immediate production focus has shifted to the commercial sector with the introduction of the Class 3 Mullen THREE.

The company’s press release today sheds light on the active assembly lines at its Tunica facility, where production of the Mullen THREE is now underway. The assembly rate is expected to gradually increase from September to December this year. CEO David Michery expressed his pride in this achievement, highlighting the dedication of the team to transform the Tunica plant into a hub for Class 3 EV production:

“I am proud to announce that our Class 3 vehicle line is now in production mode at our Tunica facility. Our team has been working seven days a week, day and night, getting this plant reconfigured and ready for Class 3 production.”

Mullen’s production site in Tunica, covering over 100 acres of Mississippi land and boasting a production footprint exceeding 120,000 square feet, will be solely devoted to assembling Class 1 to 3 commercial EVs. Anticipating full production capacity later this year, Mullen envisions manufacturing up to 3,000 Class 3 EVs annually.

The Mullen THREE, with a starting price of $68,500, is positioned to potentially qualify for up to $7,500 in federal tax incentives for customers in the United States. Impressively, Mullen has already garnered orders for more than 1,250 THREE EVs, translating to approximately $79 million in potential purchase orders, pending fulfillment.
