The demand for electric cars continues to increase every year and Mercedes-Benz wants to continue to satisfy the needs of customers who want electricity.
The German automaker has been building electric luxury vehicles for several years and plans to offer an electric alternative for all models in its lineup by 2025.
They are moving fast towards the zero-emissions vision that Mercedes-Benz achieves for the future, and to support that, they have just opened the world’s first dedicated electric car dealership Mercy, located in Japan.
The new store is a black, two-story building located in Yokohama, just south of Tokyo. Mercedes EQA, EQB, EQC, EQE and EQS will be arriving soon at the EV booth. Customers will be able to order test drives and specifications of their future cars.
This is quite an interesting and bold move for Mercedes-Benz, especially as Japanese customers have proven quite loyal to their domestic brands and have little interest in electric cars, let alone foreign brands.
With this dealership, we can see significant growth in Japanese customers’ interest in foreign brands and in electric cars. According to Nikkei Asia, in 2021 there will be a 23% increase in foreign car sales from the previous year, mostly Mercedes.
Even though there are still some people who give negative comments about EV, now people are starting to accept it slowly. The future is of course unavoidable, and we must look to electric cars as a “clean transport” solution in the future.
The move taken by Mercedes-Benz in Japan is actually quite reasonable in this context. We can expect to see more dedicated electric vehicle dealerships opening soon around the world, replacing what we currently have.
