McLaren Unveils the Lavoie Series 1: A Remarkable Electric Scooter with Unique Features

In a surprising move, renowned automaker McLaren has ventured into the realm of electric scooters with the introduction of their latest creation, the Lavoie Series 1. Developed by Lavoie, a subsidiary of McLaren Applied, this cutting-edge scooter stands out from the competition due to its unique design and portability features. Designed by Ian Callum, the Lavoie Series 1 is a game-changer in the e-scooter market.

The Lavoie Series 1 comes in two variants: the entry-level Series 1 and the flagship Series 1 MAX. The former is equipped with a 468 Wh battery pack, enabling riders to cover a distance of 25 miles (40 km) at an average speed of 12 mph (19 km/h). On the other hand, the Series 1 MAX boasts a larger 702 Wh battery, offering an extended range of 38 miles (61 km). Both models can reach a top speed of 25 mph (40 km/h), and recharging the battery to its full capacity takes just under 3 hours.

Featuring three distinct riding modes, namely Eco, Cruise, and Sport, the Lavoie Series 1 caters to various preferences and needs. In Eco mode, riders can travel between 31 miles (49.8 km) and 43.5 miles (70 km) at a speed of 9 mph (14.4 km/h), while Cruise mode allows for distances ranging from 24.8 miles (40 km) to 37.3 miles (60 km) at an average speed of 15.5 mph (25 km/h). In Sport mode, riders can cover distances between 15.5 miles (25 km) and 21.7 miles (35 km) at an average speed of 25 mph (40 km/h).

A standout feature of the Lavoie Series 1 is its innovative folding mechanism, referred to as ‘flowfold’ by Lavoie. With just the press of a button, the scooter’s stem can be effortlessly collapsed, allowing for convenient carrying and storage.

To commemorate the origins of electric two-wheeled vehicles, the initial production run of the Lavoie Series 1 will consist of 469 units known as the Founders Edition. This limited edition release pays homage to the first electric two-wheeler patented in April 1869 and includes a unique numbered plaque. For those seeking the regular models, the Series 1 is priced at $1,990, while the Series 1 MAX is available for $2,230.

The McLaren Lavoie Series 1 represents a remarkable foray into the electric scooter market. With its exceptional features, including its foldability and impressive range, McLaren has once again demonstrated their commitment to innovation and advancement. As electric scooters continue to gain popularity as an eco-friendly mode of transportation, the Lavoie Series 1 is poised to make a lasting impact and redefine the standards of urban mobility.
