Mazda’s entry into the electric vehicle (EV) market is off to a strong start with the launch of the EZ-6 electric sedan in China. Officially introduced on October 26, 2024, the EZ-6 is priced starting at 139,800 yuan (approximately $19,200), offering an affordable option in the growing Chinese EV market.
Changan Mazda, Mazda’s joint venture in China, has ramped up production following the model’s successful debut. In its first full month on the market, the company reported selling 2,445 units of the EZ-6 in November, positioning it among the top three mid-size new energy vehicle (NEV) sedans of joint ventures in China during its launch period.
The EZ-6, based on Changan’s hybrid platform, is available in both electric vehicle (EV) and extended-range (EREV) configurations. It features Mazda’s signature “Kodo-Soul of Motion” design, tailored specifically to Chinese consumers. With a length of 4,921 mm, width of 1,890 mm, and height of 1,485 mm, the EZ-6 is slightly larger than the Tesla Model 3, providing ample space for passengers.
Inside, the EZ-6 boasts a 14.6-inch infotainment screen, a 10.1-inch driver display, and an impressive 50-inch augmented reality (AR) head-up display. The sedan also offers advanced comfort features such as zero-gravity reclining seats and voice-controlled smart functions.
In terms of performance, the EZ-6 offers a range of up to 600 km (372 miles) on the Chinese CLTC cycle, with fast charging capabilities that allow the battery to charge from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes. Two battery options are available: a 56.1 kWh version providing up to 480 km (298 miles) of range, and a 68.81 kWh option that offers 600 km (372 miles) of range. The EZ-6 is available in seven different configurations, with prices ranging from 139,800 to 179,800 yuan ($19,200 to $24,700).
