The Luxembourg government has announced an extension of its “Klimabonus Mobilitéit” program, aimed at promoting electric mobility and fostering the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), e-bikes, and private charging stations. This extension, set to run until 31 December 2024, reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to sustainable transportation solutions.

Since its inception in 2020, the “Klimabonus Mobilitéit” program has garnered substantial interest, with over 3,500 subsidy applications already approved. The program’s core objective is to incentivize the transition to electric modes of transportation and facilitate the necessary infrastructure for EV charging.

Under the new regulations, eligible applicants can receive financial support of up to 450 euros for the preparatory work required to install a private charging station. This includes pre-fitting parking spaces for future charging station installation and covering the expenses associated with implementing a collective intelligent charging management system.

An innovative aspect of the program involves the promotion of load management systems to facilitate the installation of charging points within owner associations. The government emphasizes the importance of integrating charging stations as part of a comprehensive building project to ensure technical coherence. Incentives will be provided to both property owners and tenants to encourage shared contributions towards the installation costs, even for stations added at a later date. Owner associations are also eligible to avail themselves of these financial benefits.

Notably, the scope of aid recipients has been expanded. Non-profit entities under private law, such as non-profit associations, foundations, and civil law companies, are now included in the list of eligible beneficiaries, further diversifying the program’s impact.

A significant modification is the introduction of a minimum charging power requirement of 3.7 kW for future installations. Additionally, mobile charging stations that can seamlessly integrate into fixed facilities are now deemed eligible for financial support.

As Luxembourg continues to prioritize sustainable transportation solutions, the extension and enhancements to the “Klimabonus Mobilitéit” program underscore the government’s commitment to driving electric mobility and reducing carbon emissions in the realm of transportation.
