Lucid Gravity SUV Showcases Formidable Towing Power, Pulling Supersonic Jet in Recent Video

Lucid Motors, through a promotional video on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), showcased the towing prowess of its recently unveiled Gravity SUV. In the video, the Gravity is depicted effortlessly pulling a Boom XB-1 jet out of a hangar and onto a runway, underscoring its claimed towing capacity of 6,000 pounds. Notably, Lucid emphasized that this figure is based on manufacturer projections and is subject to potential adjustments.

The Gravity, Lucid’s second fully electric model following the Air, positions itself as a formidable contender in the EV market. While towing an aircraft may not directly mirror everyday scenarios, it accentuates the evolving capabilities of modern electric vehicles.

In comparison to its electric midsize SUV rival, the Tesla Model X, the Gravity exhibits a superior towing capacity, boasting 1,000 pounds more at 6,000 lbs. Furthermore, the Gravity offers a notable advantage in range, projecting over 440 miles, approximately 100 miles more than the Model X.

However, the Model X retaliates with a formidable powertrain generating 1,020 horsepower, achieving a swift 0-60 mph acceleration in 2.5 seconds. In contrast, the Gravity, estimated to produce over 800 hp, achieves a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds. While speculation about a potentially faster Sapphire version exists, Lucid has not confirmed such a development.

The Gravity not only surpasses the Model X in towing capacity and range but also aligns with competitive pricing, boasting a base MSRP under $80,000. It’s essential to note that this pricing applies to the base model, as the range-topping Dream Edition may have a distinct cost. Anticipated to hit the market in late 2024, the Lucid Gravity is positioned as a compelling option in the evolving landscape of electric SUVs.
