Lucid Motors (LCID) is exploring new partnerships with other automakers to share its advanced electric vehicle (EV) technology, according to CEO Peter Rawlinson. Following a record-breaking third quarter in 2024, the company is seeking to play a larger role in the growing EV market.

Lucid delivered more than 7,100 vehicles in the first nine months of 2024, surpassing the previous year’s total of 6,001 vehicles. With the launch of its first electric SUV, the Gravity, the company expects to maintain this momentum.

Lucid has already established a technology partnership with Aston Martin, where it will supply its proprietary EV powertrain technology to help the luxury automaker develop a new platform for future electric sports cars. Rawlinson emphasized that the Aston Martin deal is expected to expand Lucid’s reach and pave the way for broader adoption of its technology.

Additionally, Lucid is actively engaged in talks with other automakers about similar partnerships. Rawlinson mentioned in an interview with Bloomberg that the company is in discussions with “a couple” of traditional car manufacturers, which could provide Lucid with access to established supply chains and manufacturing networks. He expressed hope that these collaborations could help further the automakers’ transition to sustainability, while potentially offering economies of scale.

Lucid’s technology continues to evolve, with the Gravity SUV offering an impressive EPA-estimated range of up to 450 miles. The company is also focused on advancing its technology to reduce costs and improve efficiency. Looking ahead, Lucid plans to launch a series of mid-size EVs targeting the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y market. The first of these new models, an electric SUV, is expected to enter production in late 2026 with a starting price around $50,000.
