Lucid Air electric sedan earns five star Euro NCAP crash test

Lucid is preparing for the introduction of the Lucid Air model in Europe and one of the signs that market launch is imminent is the Euro NCAP safety test.

Lucid Air earned a perfect five-star rating, the same score given to the Tesla Model S a few weeks ago.

Crash tests showed Air received the highest marks in the Adult and Child Occupants categories, with scores of 90% and 91% respectively. Euro NCAP says that the Air has remained stable in their crash tests, and that the driver and passengers will be well protected in most crashes.

In terms of protection for Vulnerable Road Users it is 78% (moderate), while Safety Assist is 84%. The latter is actually a bit of a surprise, as we were expecting something closer to 90%.

Air Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) performed “well in its response test to pedestrians and adequately in its response test to cyclists,” explains Euro NCAP.

If we compare the Lucid Air with the recently updated Tesla Model S, it turns out that the Model S received a better score (94% Adult Passenger protection, same 91% Child Passenger protection, much higher Vulnerable Road User protection – 85% , and a much higher Safety Assist – 98%).
