MAN Truck & Bus has secured its largest electric bus order from a private customer in Austria. Tyrolean transport company Ledermair has placed an order for 27 MAN Lion’s City E electric buses, marking a significant step in the transition to sustainable transportation in the region. Deliveries are set to begin in the second half of 2025.
Ledermair, a company with a long history in Tyrol, plans to incorporate 19 solo buses and 8 articulated buses into its fleet. The first two vehicles are scheduled for delivery in September 2025, with the remaining 25 units to arrive by the end of the year. This order represents the largest switch from diesel to electric buses in the state of Tyrol, as Ledermair works to enhance its environmental credentials.
Alexander Ledermair, Managing Director of Ledermair Holding GmbH, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainability, stating, “With the MAN Lion’s City E, a modern and environmentally friendly city bus will complement our fleet. We are increasingly focusing on the use of electric buses to protect the environment and motivate people to opt for public transport over individual car journeys.”
In addition to the buses themselves, Ledermair will integrate MAN’s eManager charging and fleet management system into its operations, ensuring a seamless and efficient transition to electric mobility. Rudi Kuchta, Managing Director at MAN Truck & Bus Vertrieb Österreich GmbH, expressed enthusiasm about the order, calling it a milestone for the company: “We are delighted with the order. This is the largest eBus order from a private customer in Austria.”
